“Empty” is a powerful song that tells the story of songwriter Matt Gibson’s own experiences with trauma while serving in the USAF.
Matt says:
“When I was in the USAF, I encountered so many people that were self medicating and barely functioning due to the heavy burden of carrying a bunch of unresolved trauma around. It was frowned upon to get help even though there were many programs that “promised” support. ‘Empty’ is my story of the horrors I encountered and how I was feeling inside about 3 years before I retired from the military after a 20 year career. My hope is that this song and video make a powerful impact and make life better for the heroes that protect and serve our people daily.”
